This is the same type a deal as the trapdoor. These were converted to a cartridge type and the cartridge is the 577 Snider. A very big bore short fat cartridge. Rifle itself is mostly a brown patina with some sort of coating that was put on. Most of that is wearing off. There are some vise marks on the bbl. There are good markings on the frame and swinging breech. The lockplate also has nice markings. These have very pretty brass furniture on it. All in nice condition. Wood has been freshened a long time ago. Not a bad looking Snider. Leroy Merz Antique Firearms specializes in antique and vintage Winchesters and other fine American firearms.
