Description:
One hundred and sixteen years old and still hunting.

This Ithaca (NIG) 12-gauge external hammer shotgungun, which was manufactured in 1901, is properly restored to bring it back to a condition similar to what it would have been after a couple years of use by the original owner.  It is a great rabbit and pheasant gun.  The color case hardening, which was redone by Flat Creek Gunworks in Fort Collins, CO, is brilliant.  The wood is attractive and solid, the bores bright, and the exterior of the barrels flawless as refinished.  This shotgun has 28” twist steel barrels choked Skeet (.005) and Skeet (.005) with 2-3/4” chambers.  The length of pull to the end of a modern recoil pad is 14-1/2 inches.  The drop at the comb is 1-5/8 inches and at the heel 2-3/4 inches”.  The gun locks up tight and on face.  All serial numbers (68078) match.

Bores 9” from the breach are both .720.  The wall thicknesses (top/side/bottom) for the right barrel at 9” from muzzle are 041/.041/.044 and at the middle of the barrel are .038/.042/.045.  The wall thicknesses of the left barrel are .047/.041/.037 and .048/.040/.038, respectively.  The gun weighs 7 lb 6 oz.    Trigger pull for the right barrel is 5-1/2 lbs and for the left is 4-1/2 lbs.

The price does not include shipping costs paid by buyer.  The inspection period is 7 days from receipt.  This shotgun has been fired using low pressure shells produced by RST Corporation for Damascus barreled shotguns.  However, as for any antique or vintage shotgun, and especially one a hundred and fifteen years old, it is recommended that the new owner have it inspected by his or her gunsmith before firing and then only use shells that produce pressures for which the gun was designed.  The gun carries a 30-day warrantee, during which Back in Time will have any mechanical problems documented by a professional gunsmith repaired or accept the return of the gun and refund the price of the gun and the return shipping cost.  Please do not hesitate to call with questions Stephen Wesbrook, 703-625-4830; Back in Time, LLC  --  Preserving late 19th and early 20th century double shotguns.
