The silversmith is John Kentenber, one of the best British silversmiths. The gun is 11 1/2" overall, with a narrow graceful wrist. It has been kept in the British manor, with the silver and the steel lock and barrel kept bright. The narrow rounded lockplate has only one pin showing from the inside. The signature on the lock is Wilson in a nice script. The lockplate, hammer and frizzen are engraved en suite, with a fine simple border. The 6" barrel is a three stage barrel with very clear RW and British proofs. The muzzle is slightly swamped, and measures .62 cal at the mouth. The silver tipped rammer even looks as if it could be original, with the worm on the rear. There is a repair in the wood on the right side just above the rear of the trigger bow. There is some old filler showing in that spot. This is a really handsome pistol, with lovely silver work, and a nicely carved plateau behind the barrel tang. It is in wonderful condition for being being 250 years old. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Richard Wilson |
