Description: Price Reduction ! Ser.No. 9672u, 9MM, 4 inch round Bbl w/London-proofed "Vickers Ltd' and proofed marks consistant w/Vickers - all along theToggle. It was most likely assembled w/various parts from Mauser, DWM and smaller German Parts suppliers for the Dutch Ministry -both comm. & military/ possibly around 1921-23. See "The Luger Story"- pg 163. Apparantly about 5000 Ger Lugers disappeared which may explain why they showed up in England to be assembled and marketed by "Vickers Limited". This due in part because of the "Versailles Treaty" which was in the beginning of the "Allied supervision to enforce complaince for Germany's embago to not produce any kind of firarms". Obviously this supervision waned and Germany was well on its way rebuilding up war materials again as this was the the case. Also Vickers had been under contract w/DWM and others, to build ( an additional maybe) about 6000 guns plus parts. The contract was for the 6000 guns and was signed in 1919. Followed by another by Johannes Holl, a directer of DWM, who transfered the order to Vickers. An order was placed in 1919 by the Dutch Colonial Ministry for the guns & parts components , who were Mfg by DWM, and then shipped by them to "Vickers Ltd" London, Also this serial number (9672n) falls in the correct range of "4182-10181 which is also in "The Luger Story".All of the mixed parts of this particular "Vickers" are for example - The receciver and barrel have matching numbers "4434, The frame is 9672 and proofed accordingly. The r-side of the front of the receiver is the tripple eagle w/655 - double eagle w/55 and another double eagle w/no nos. The bore has a good twist w/minor pitting between twists, It is mechanicly excellent. The bluing is consistent w/the overal appearance and has some edge wear. This was probably an arnesal rebuild at sometime in its history. The Grips are are correct to the firarm and appear as original.
