Description:
This is a Frank Wesson 41 caliber 2-shot derringer with a sliding dirk in the center slot. This is the early variety with the shorter flutes, vertical markings, long sheath for the trigger, and the serial located under the left grip. It is serial number 51. It has the original grips numbered to the gun. There is a very tiny triangular chip in the left grip at the top. The markings on this model were so tiny and lightly struck that they didn't last long with any use.  There is only the 1858 patent date visible remaining on one side of the barrels.  The barrels are a mottled very dark grey color, uncleaned, and with some traces of very light pitting. The brass frame is a dark mustard patina, uncleaned.  The dagger and dagger mechanism are 100% correct and work perfectly.  The bores are somewhat dirty and worn with some of the rifling visible.  A total of about 800 of these neat derringers were made.  I remember buying my first one in 1972.  It was really a wreck,  but I loved owning it.
