Description:
Serial #81217, .45-70, 32 1/2” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a truly nice, "Model of 1877" spec rifle that has most of the original blue remaining on the metal with some very mild silvering at the muzzle, and on a few of the high edges and projections at the breech. The “1873” marked, high-arch breechblock has nearly all of the bright original color case-hardening still visible, and the hammer has a few specks of mild surface freckling along its length, and on the spur. The walnut stock is excellent with a crisp “ESA/1877” oval cartouche on the left side of the wrist, as well as a few very minor chips at the front of the lockplate. The mechanism is tight and functions flawlessly, and the original ramrod is included. This is a simply excellent example of a later production '73 Trapdoor rifle that has an unusually high amount of original finish remaining. Antique
