Description:
A Goodyear's Pat May 6, 1851 hard rubber flask. This piece is marked at the throat with the faint stamping. 4 1/2" overall and shown as #1192 on page 402 of the "Powder Flask Book" by Ray Riling. Unpolished brass top. Sound body with no cracks, breaks or repairs. These flasks had a relatively small survival rate as they were easily broken. An excellent example of a hard rubber or gutta perchs US built flask. This piece dates from the 1850's period.
