For sale is a keepsake that I bought from a friend who passed a couple years ago. It took me a while to bring myself to this point, but it;s time to let Bill's rifle move on to the next guy. This is a truly, well cared for example of the Model 88 in the desired, hard hitting 284 WIn. I have never even fired this rifle, but I have heard on countless occasions about the tight groups at the range, or a great shot he had made at his hunting camp. This rifle was cared for by him and now by me. The stock does have some light handling marks in the wood, but only superficial. The metal, however is a solid 98%. Nothing has been modified or refinished. The bore is shiny and bright, and it operates like an old Winchester should operate. This is the rarest of all Pre-64 Model 88's because they were only produced in 1963. I tried to price this rifle at a fair price, in comparing it to others listed. Shipping and insurance on this rifle will run $45. I will, of course, need your FFL's paperwork and ship-to address.
The price listed, only represents the cost of the rifle, however, if the buyer so desires, I can offer him another package that is very, VERY, hard to come by. I have (4) boxes of WInchester 125 Gr. Power Point, as well as another full box of Winchester 150 Gr Power Point. Also in the extra package, I can also offer a brand new, in the box, Winchester Model 88 Magazine. The purchase of these extra items are for the buyer to decide, but the ammo is a rare commodity and these items will be sold for less than I have invested.. I have lowered the price on this fine Model 88. It was $2595 and now is $2450. It was already the best valued pre-64 284 on the listings and now is even better.
