Description:
Serial #446172, .303 British, 26" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some freckling within the grooves near the muzzle. This is an "ERA" marked rifle with matching numbered bolt and a small import mark on the underside of the barrel just ahead of the nosecap. The metal has a mixed plum-brown patina that blends smoothly with dull gray at the muzzle, raised edges, and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt and bolt handle. The bolt components and matching numbered rear sight have "E" marked parts and the volley sight components are no longer present. The "fat" walnut stock and handguard have numerous handling marks and blemishes including a small chip and crack on the right side at the receiver ring and an armory repair at the heel. Additionally, the stock disk has been removed and a wooden plug added to fill the inletting; a faint "237" stamp is faint but legible on the right side and "1/7" is painted in white on the left side of the butt. This is a very good plus example of a Pattern 14 rifle overall. FFL or C&R
