Next to the Singer Co. who only made 500 1911A1's, the Union Switch and Signal Co. is the rarest of the WWII contractors that produced 1911A1's for the government. Their total production was only 55,000, many of which were lost, destroyed or cannibalized. This example has had several small parts changed during its life in the military, but the major parts; the slide, frame, barrel, grips, etc. are original and correct. It has 90% plus of its original parkerized finish and the bore is excellent. We do not see many of these US&S for sale, and this is the first in several years.
