Sold! #6921, Price reduced! A 1934 Francotte Knockabout.12 Ga, 30 “ barrels, 2 ¾” chambers ,ejector, double triggers , open pistol grip.
“Made for John Wanamaker , Philadelphia” engraved on the left tube.
Field grade per denomination, not in design or execution. Anson & Deeley action , with Purdey flat bolt, dolls head, and greener third fastener, tight as a vault. South gate ejectors; strong and timed perfectly. Nice trigger pull at 4# and 5#.
Manual safety, push button forend release. 95% original case color and 15% coverage scroll engaving.
The gun weight is 7# 6 OZ, and it balances at the hinge. Bores are in great shape and the barrels weight is still exactly the same that the day they were proofed (1.519 Kg). Bores dimensions are .725” diameter, with .035” wall thickness on both tubes.
Chokes are .018 and 0.23 ( Mod ,Imp Mod). The blacking is original and has couple “blood spots “ at mid length . I still would rate it at 85%.
Very sound stock showing some honest use, original finish at 85% checkering at 90% condition. Dimension are 14 3/8” LOP over a 1” Decelerator pad, drop is 1 ½” and 2 ¾” , cast off 3/8” .
What a shame that Francotte closed the doors in the late 1990’s .The great city of Liege and It’ s four centuries of gunmaking tradition ,
now in that aspect, a ghost town……
