Payment Types Accepted: Description: #18014, Rigby double rifle in 470 NE. A classic Boxlock on a Webley action. Made in 1930 and marked at the 43 Sackville St address. 28” tubes , ejectors third fastener with dolls head. The rifle weighs 10 pounds 11 onces with a 14 ½” LOP over a 1” leather covered decelerator pad. Good dimensions for the average built shooter at 1 ¾” and 2 ½” drop and ¼” cast off. The stock head has been cross bolted in the past to prevent a crack in the head from growing and it served its purpose as the stock is tight on the action and structurally sound. Wood to metal fit is good and the only thing reflecting the age of the stock is the fading tear drops. Checkering is very good on the grip , but shows some crush marks on the forend . The border engraved action has lost its colors from hardening except on the trigger plate and underneath the top lever. Breech face and firing pin discs are free of pitting. Mechanically the action is in great condition , tight on the face and never rejointed. The barrels have been reblacked in the past and look very nice with a couple small pits ½” from the left muzzle. Chambers are shiny and free of blemish. The rifling is sharp and the bores are in good condition with a light cordite burn in the grooves. The rifle has nice maker oak and leather case ( with a label at the 23 Sackville address). I shot the rifle and it does print nice 2” groups , barrels on their respective sides just above the point of aim at 60 yards with the shop handload ( let's mention the excellent trigger pulls). I personally like some of the wine from Paso Robles but I make sure to get my Rigby’s from London.
