2) EXTREMELY RARE 1889 DELUXE STRAIGHT GRIP OCTAGON RIFLE IN .44-40 CALIBER WITH FANCY WALNUT AND FACTORY CHECKERING, MADE 1890, all deluxe 1889s are scarce, but one without a pistol grip is really unusual! Fancy walnut stock and forend, factory full coverage checkering at wrist and forend, fine barrel blue showing a little dulling from age only, mag tube mixing a bit more plum and brown, very aged blue mixing brown receiver, original buckhorn rear sight with factory Rocky Mountain blade front sight, wood is solid and shows light handling only with good wood to metal fit, checkering lightly worn but strong, has seven tiny "kill notches" on bottom of forend just ahead of receiver, tight action with half-cock only weak, bore has strong rifling and should scrub out about exc., super rare Marlin in a great caliber and in very nice condition overall.
