Description:
Winchester Model 1886 Extra Leightweight Rifle - Cal. .45-70 - 22" tapered barrel - SN 132613 (1904). Metal is excellent overall with sharp markings, excellent screws, and no rust, pits, or corrosion - original sights. Bore is VG+ or better - bright with sharp rifling but shows light roughness - excellent smooth action with good feeding, lock-up, and ejection. Barel and magazine tube retain retain about 96% blue with some thinning - receiver, lever and buttplate have all drifted to a medium gray patina with some thin blue spashes in protected areas on the receiver. Walnut stocks are undamaged and have been nicely re-finished at some point, have good fit to frame and retain about 95% of what looks to be an oil finish. A very crisp old 1886 LWT with special order crescent rifle buttplate in the desirable .45-70 caliber, and except for refinished wood, all original in VG+ or better condition - includes Cody letter.
