Description:
This is a classic example of the British made Black Powder Express double rifles made in the 1880's through 1890's for the India and Africa bound hunter. These rifles were used for thin skinned game up to and including Tiger and buffalo shooting paper patched soft lead bullets of 340 to 500 grain weights. This is black powder proofed and should not be confused with the 500 nitro express. The 500 BPE is an easily loaded straight case cartridge with many bullets available In hard cast and lubed as well as paper patch versions. Gun is sold with a set of reloading dies and 2 boxes of cases. Rifle is in excellent condition with 95% + blue on barrels and 90% case coloring on action and locks. Jones underlever design locks up tight. Bores are bright and like new. Stock is in excellent condition with just a slight ding hear and there. Checkering is sharp with no dents. Lovely animal scenes engraved on the action and locks. Standard fine front bead sight with three express sights on rear.
