Rare Colt .50 Caliber Military Revolving Rifle with 31 5/16 inch barrel, rifled with 7 groves, left twist, gain rifling. The cylinder is full-fluted with 6 chambers. The serial number 220 is stamped on bottom of frame, on trigger guard strap, bach of cylinder and base of buttplate. Only 10 .50 caliber military rifles were produced per R. L. Wilson's book "The Book of Colt Firearms". This rifle was at one time owned by James E. Serven who wrote the book "Colt Firearms from 1836". It was sold to Charles DuPont in 1945 and remained in the DuPont collection until May 2009. The rifle shows 30% to 50% original blue and is in very good condition for a military rifle.
