This is a splendid revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, yoke, and extractor, and has retained 98-99% of the original dark blue finish that has some mild silvering at the muzzle, along the high and projecting edges, and a moderate turn-ring on the cylinder which also has some tiny spots of silvering on the ring at the rear of the chambers. The hammer and trigger likewise retain almost all of their original color case-hardening. The smooth walnut grips have been restored to excellent condition with only a few minor handling marks and blemishes on either panel. They are numbered to a different gun on the interior, but have been renumbered to this revolver by hand on one of the panels. The mechanics are excellent and the lock-up and timing are crisp and firm. Included with the revolver is a 2015 dated S&W factory letter that lists a shipping date of December 3, 1918, to the U.S. Army Depot in Paterson, NJ. This is a great military S&W that looks as though it was never issued and rates excellent condition overall.
