Description:
SALE PENDING A fine antique double barrel 12 gauge shotgun made by P. Powell & Son of Cincinnati Ohio. Palemon Powell was a gunsmith and gunmaker and had a very successful business for about 40 years. This fine percussion 12 gauge was made around 1880 and has London proofed 12 gauge percussion barrels that measure 29 1/4 inches...they are original length and uncut.  Locks are strong with the original hammers and the shotgun remains in great original condition and is fully functional including the half and full cocks on both locks. London proofs underneath are clear and crisp, top rib is marked "London Fine Twist". Original fron beat sight remains also. The bores remain in excellent condition also. There are no cracks or repairs to to stock and everything is solid including the checkered wrist and original smooth steel butt plate. Musket style key wedge forend. One piece steel trigger guard with engraving and a pineapple finial. The wooden ramrod appears to be a replacement but it has the original ramrod end and bullet puller,  it looks good in the gun too. LOP is original at 14 1/2 inches. A fine original Powell & Son 12 bore from the American Western Era.This would also be a beautiful wall hanger!!!  USPS Priority mail is 40.00
