We have just acquired this totally "untouched" 1873 Colt Single Action that was made in 1880. It has a 7 1/2 inch barrel that still has the etched panel "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" visible, which denotes that it is chambered in 44-40 cartridge. All the numbers match , and the action works smoothly. The original one piece wood grips still retain most of their original varnish. There are some small protected areas where some of the original blue can still be seen, but generally it has a smooth grey silver patina. All the edges are sharp, and it has "the look" of an original gun that has never been overly cleaned or "improved". It would be hard to find a better looking honest old cowboy single action that is over 135 years old.
