Description:
The Evans rifle was designed by the brothers Warren and George Evans. Functionally similar to the Spencer, it features a helical magazine in the buttstock that could carry up to 34 cartridges. Each cartridge was loaded into the magazine through the buttstock by cycling the action. One only can wonder how the shooter felt when he had to reload in a fire fight. These were featured in the movies Crossfire Trail (carried by character Joe Gill, played by Wilford Brimley) and Tombstone (carried by character Pony Deal, played by  Forrie J. Smith.
