Description:
VERY HIGH CONDITION 1879 INDIAN WARS CAVALRY TRAPDOOR CARBINE, #210XXX, MADE 1882, very hard to find this nice with correct 1882 dated cartouche in the stock, exc. wood showing only light handling and a little sling wear, has unit or rack number lightly stamped ahead of the butt plate on the top of the stock, full coverage blue on the barrel and trigger guard that shows only light normal age, nice inky case color on the hammer and lock plate thinning slightly only on the lock plate, fine mottled lightly faded case colors on the breech block with more vivid color in the protected areas, correct "C" marked carbine rear sight, bore is fairly bright with light scattered pitting in the mid section, still retains rods in the butt trap, has the "star" after the serial number which is common in this serial range- meaning still unclear on these- a truly fine unmessed with and uncleaned example in investment condition.
