Colt, #2 Derringer, .41 Rimfire
This extraordinary Colt Second Model Derringer was manufactured between 1870 and 1890 with a silver plated finish. The top of the 2 1/2" barrel is stamped "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO / HARTFORD CT.U.S.A. No2" with Maltese styled crosses at both ends of the legend. The serial number "7466" is stamped on the underside of the barrel and the bottom of the bird's head butt. The caliber "41 CAL" is also stamped on the bottom of the bird's head butt. The trigger and hammer have a blued finish. The trigger face and hammer spur are knurled. Frame and barrel markings and engraving are clear and legible. The genuine Mother-of-Pearl grips show minor wear. This is the finest example of an antique Colt derringer that we have seen.
