Description:
One Of A Kind Elaborately Engraved Smith & Wesson #3 First Model American Revolver.
This revolver was manufactured in 1871 and features 80% profuse coverage of Nimschke STYLE engraving covering its surface in a wondrously well done floral scroll pattern... The engraving covering the barrel sides, lug, frame, back strap, hammer,, top strap and cylinder flats.
The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address/patent dates. "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT. JULY 10. 60. JAN. 17. FEB. 17. JULY 11. 65 & AUG. 24. 69" on top of the barrel rib,, flanked by Maltese crosses.
The Serial number is marked on the butt, and the ALL matching assembly mark is on the rear cylinder face, barrel latch and top strap under the latch.
Nickel finish with Gold Wash cylinder, Trigger Guard and Hammer, . Pinned front and notch rear sights, and fitted with replacement ivory grips..A highly embellished revolver.
