Description:
A.H. Fox A Grade 12 Gauge Side-by-Side
30" KRUPP #1 WEIGHT, TURNBULL RESTORED, NICE!

General Specs: AH Fox, Year 1910, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 11oz, SxS
Serial Number: 13987

Ansley Herman Fox was well known to consider quality first, cost second.  This is demonstrated by looking at the internals of even his entry level A Grade gun in the early years, like this fine A Grade built in 1910.  Most astute Fox lovers realize that the early guns were simply finished better both inside and out during A.H. Fox's leadership, and my examination of many early guns prove this out, as the internals are nicely polished on the early A Grade guns and "not so much" on the later A Grades.  This fine Fox, sn13987 looks like it just came out of the factory, as it has gone through Doug Turnbull's shop and completely restored.  Fox used bone and charcoal case colors in the early years so Turnbull's colors are correct on this gun and richly done.  The engraving was recut, screws made to be perfect, wood restored and checkering recut.  The few grain cracks in the butt stock were properly repaired during the process.  If you have ever checked the cost of a Turnbull restoration you know it runs well over $3000 with a year of waiting for your gun.  Of course the workmanship and wait time is well worth it, as it is the finest restoration work available.  Shipped with 30" number 1 weight (heaviest barrels for heavy loads and turkey, waterfowl, late season pheasants, and vintage sporting clays) and presently choked IC/LM, 2 3/4" chambers, clean bores and perfect mechanics, it is ready for another century of use.  The LOP has been extended to 14 3/4" with a solid red rubber pad with good shooting dimensions.  The gun is beautiful and will make a superb sporting clays gun as well as a fine upland gun.  Thanks for looking.
