According to the Colt factory letter this 4 3/4 inch barrel Single Action was shipped to Schoverling, Daly and Gales in New York, New York in March of 1884. They were one of the 5 "Allies" that ordered the bulk of Colts during this time period. They in turn resold them and shipped them all over the country. The one piece wood grips are original ro this revolver and the combination of the .45 caliber, the 4 3/4 inch barrel, and the one piece wood grips is very desirable and hard to find. The original nickel plating is around 70% with most of the wear being on the grip straps and the left side of the barrel. The patina of the areas where the nickel is missing blends so well with the remaining nickel that it is hard to see the nickel is missing. The grips retain most of their original varnish and the bore is better than good with very strong rifling. There is just something about holding this 132 year old Colt in your hand and cocking it that makes these revolvers the most collected handguns in the world.
