Fox CE 12 Gauge SxS FACTORY LIVE BIRD GUN, 30" KRUPP #1 WEIGHT General Specs: AH Fox, Year 1912, 12 Gauge, 8lbs 1oz, Side-by-Side Serial Number: 15226 This is an early 1912 Fox CE live bird gun sn15226. Most Fox enthusiasts are keenly aware that the finest Fox guns were made between 1906 and 1912 while Ansley H. Fox was still in charge and personally inspecting the guns before shipment. Even more significantly, special attention was paid to guns used on the competitive circuit shooting pigeons or trap targets as they could make a company famous if often found in the winner's circle. The shooting sports during this time period were prominent social events with newspapers and sporting journals tracking results of main events and reporting them nationwide. "Live Bird Guns" were guns without safeties designed specifically for these events and when a shooter ordered such a gun special attention was paid to the boring and choking of the gun so it would shoot exceptional, consistent patterns. The Fox live bird guns are deadly on pigeons or clays. The factory order card shows this gun with "NO SAFETY", straight grip, 30" barrels, and "extra nice gun". The bore diameter and chokes are unaltered since it left the factory. I have used live bird guns in the field over dogs by carrying it like a hammer gun afield...chambers loaded, action open with just a simple closing of the action as the dog gets birdy. This is a completely safe way to utilize this specialized target gun in the field should you so choose. The gun is still tight, bores are like mirrors, screws are clean. Just a very rare, special Fox at a very good price. Thanks for looking, and don't let this gun pass you by. It is a rare find!
