Manufactured in 1971, This Colt Detective Special is in excellent condition. This model is what collectors call a "4th Issue" which is distinguished by the heavy front barrel with an ejector rod shroud, and the long front sight ramp. The 4th issue Detective Specials are the only variation in this model line that are rated for +P ammunition. This example has a very faint drag line on the cylinder; and the factory blue finish rates at 96%+ with only some very small areas where surface rust has formed at some point since it left the Colt factory. There is a tiny bit of holster wear at the muzzle and some of the high edges but overall this revolver is very attractive. It has had the smaller, smooth Colt Agent grips installed likely to make it easier to carry concealed. This revolver is 100% functional and locks up tight with no wiggle, just like new. The double action pull is smooth, and the trigger breaks cleanly in single action firing. This Detective Special is 45 years old and is considered one of the best concealed carry revolvers ever designed. This Colt would be a classy carry gun, and assuming it is well cared for, a great investment at the same time.
