Springfield, C&R ELIGIBLE, military bolt action target rifle, Model 1922 M1/ M2, SCARCE TRANSITION MODEL, caliber .22 LR, s/n 73XXB (FIRST YEAR OF ISSUE- 1926),
Rifle was first issued in 1926 as a Model 1922-M1 in a blue finish, later military arsenal converted to a Model 1922 M2 by parkerizing and installing an M2 bolt, new lock timing, and an adjustable head space bolt design, receiver exhibits correct type of marking for conversion of an M1 to an M2 (II) [see photo],
24" barrel, EXCELLENT BORE, correct Lyman receiver sight and blade front sight, CORRECTLY NOT TAPPED FOR SCOPE, REPEAT, AS ISSUED, NOT TAPPED FOR SCOPE, metal finish is crisp and as close to 100% as you can get on receiver, barrel, and trigger guard, ORIGINAL MAGAZINE (AND YOU KNOW WHAT THEY COST), checkered steel buttplate, stock exhibits original correct "P" proof in a circle and also correct "SA" (Springfield Armory) in a square, lettering is so sharp on the stock that it doesn't appear to have been sanded as some were by the arsenal, there are some noticable storagge/handling marks on stock on left center of bottom, THIS ONE IS DEFINITELY A U.
