Description:
Serial #95057, .45 Colt, 5 1/2" barrel with a fine bore that has minor freckling within the grooves. The metal retains 85% of an overall re-applied matte blue finish that has left the Colt and British markings still clear and crisp (including the double arrow deaccession stamp on the left side of the frame). There is some silvering along the exposed edges and at the muzzle along with a faint turn-ring on the cylinder and even light freckling with some mixed in pinprick pitting. The original caliber designation has been removed and a new stamp applied by hand: "45 COLT". The hammer and trigger have mild freckling (heaviest on the sides of the hammer spur) and there is some slightly deeper pitting on the sideplate. The walnut grips are in good shape and have been lightly sanded with a re-applied military oil finish on both sides over minor scratches and handling marks. Additionally, there are some small chips and cracks on the butt of the left panel. The lock-up is still tight and the mechanism functions, however one chamber does not advance in single-action. This is a good-very good British Colt overall. FFL or C&R
