THIS IS A SMITH AND WESSON PRE MODEL 10 .38 SPL WITH 5" BARREL AND 2-PIECE WALNUT GRIPS SOLD TO THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT UNDER A U.S. ARMY CONTRACT PRIOR T0 THE LEND LEASE ACT OF 1941. THIS IS A PRE-VICTORY REVOLVER USED BY THE BRITISH MILITARY POLICE DURING WW II WITH MATCHING SERIAL NUMBERS AND CORRECT BRITISH PROOF MARKS.
Has the original checkered walnut grips with the silver colored entertwined S&W logo medallion insets, which were proper up until early 1942. Grips in VERY GOOD shape and condition with some light scratches and light dings, some light wear on the checkering, and no cracks or chips. Single and double action, which function perfectly, with all springs strong and sound. Bottom grip strap has the "P" proofmark which indicates this revolver was delivered under an Army contract. Has the lanyard ring on the bottom of the grip, as is proper for this model of revolver. Barrel and Cylinder show white where bluing as thinned.
