Description:
Here is a very scarce, unaltered and collectible condition Winchester 69a Match. There were no Serial #s issued to Model 69s, but this one was probably mfg. in the mid 1940's. Unlike the majority of 69a "matches" that I have seen listed over the years, this is the GENUINE article, as evidenced by several unique features, most notably the barrel stamping of .22 L.RIFLE (The match grade was the only 69 marked as such). Other supporting features include a Lyman 57E receiver sight with NO rear sight dovetail mortised into barrel, and 1 1/4" factory swivels with correct leather sling.
The rifle is in very nice shape with original finishes throughout. The bluing is excellent with only a couple tiny spots of erosion on top of barrel. The wood finish is also VG-excellent with some light compression marks scattered throughout. Plastic butt plate is excellent. The barrel is 25". Mechanics and bore are excellent. The magazine is a non factory replacement.
Overall, a great little package in a very hard to come by configuration.
