SOLD

Springfield Armory M1 Garand, serial number 705983, manufactured July 1942. Barrel is Springfield, dated February 1955, in almost unused condition. Other marked parts are Springfield. No import marks. This rifle is in excellent used condition. 

We test fired this Garand at 100 yards, it performed great, cycling through a full eight round clip, ejecting the clip at the end. You can watch a video of our test firing at our YouTube channel Fernwood Armory TV.

Sling, two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo) and a canvas bandolier are included.

SA M1 sn 705983 Specs:

•    Receiver: marked “D 28291-17” on leg, heat lot C19B, also hand engraved “BK4 7-64”, indicating rebuild at Letterkenny. Excellent condition, no pitting, light colored finish with very little wear. 
•    Barrel: marked “SA F6535448 2 55 A217B” in op rod slot, also marked “P”, “M”, and small stars and eagle. Bore is bright like new, crown and rifling excellent. Chrome pads at gas port. External finish is like new, chamber is in the white. Condition of gas port indicates that the barrel is almost unused.
•    Barrel Gauge Measurements: MW(muzzle wear): <1, TE(throat erosion):  2
•    Lower band: 2-piece flat top with roll pin
•    Clip latch: late square front type, unmarked
•    Op rod: postwar flat side, marked “6535382 SA”, exc condition. Op rod and bolt cycle freely by tilting when everything is assembled except main spring and hammer (Garands with binding or rubbing op rods tend to have feeding and/or ejecting problems).
•    Op rod catch: late type, unmarked
•    Bullet guide: stamped with notch, unmarked
•    Follower: late type, unmarked
•    Follower arm: no bevel
•    Follower rod: long fork, riveted
•    Bolt: marked “6528287-SA A15”
•    Firing pin: half round, no chrome tip
•    Sight knobs: T105 postwar type, elevation HAS Weatherhead logo, windage marked “BME”
•    Rear sight cover: late type with ribs
•    Rear sight aperture: double track, unmarked 
•    Trigger housing:  marked “6528290-SA” Small pad, cloverleaf hole, no pitting
•    Trigger guard: milled WWII type, SA
•    Trigger: late type, no extra hole
    Hammer: marked “SA D5546008”
•    Hammer spring plunger: late type without wings
•    Safety: round top, marked “SA11”
•    Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring, bayonet lug marked “V” with punch marl. Gas cylinder group finish is in very good condition. Gas cylinder/barrel fit has been tightened to maximize accuracy.
•    Front sight: 0.65 wide, unmarked. 
•    Gas cylinder lock: beveled front WWII type, unmarked
•    Gas cylinder screw: cross slot poppet valve type, marked “T PAX”
•    Stock: walnut, most likely an arsenal replacement. Uncircled “P” on pistol grip, no other markings except that there was “119” painted on the bottom of the pistol grip at one time. No cracks, about average dings/scratches, nice appearance.
•    Handguards: walnut, no cracks, same condition as stock and good color match.
•    Buttplate: Flat plunger, very good condition with usual finish wear.
•    Sling: used, common postwar type
