Description: s# 26226, 38-56 WCF, 26 inch octagon No 2 heavy barrel, bright very good bore with a few scattered areas of erosion. This 1888 manufactured rifle looks great with 85% case colors on frame and lever. Barrel shows 80% blue with some light staining. The barrel was originally 30 inches long, four inches were cut off long ago and a new front sight dovetail was added. The sights are old Marlin rifle sights. Butplate has developed a dark brown patina. Wood is sound with very few marks, a worn area shows on left side of wrist. Some light oil was added during period of use. Rifle weighs just over eight pounds now, with four more inches of barrel it must have been close to ten pounds. Antique.
