Description:
Colt SAA Cavalry Serial # 1400xx (1891 Vintage). One of the last 275 Built for the Military. RAC Inspected and properly marked. Blued areas retain a minimum of 90% original finish excluding the bottom of the butt and cylinder that retain a good 60%. The Case Colored areas retain 45-50% Original Color with more in the protected areas. Bore is bright with good lands and grooves with very little pitting if any. Grips retain an honest 80% Original Finish with very legible inspectors mark ( RAC ) on the right grip and the date,1891
along with the sub inspectors initials of which I cannot make out the first Initial on the left grip. The only real wear on the grips is on the bottom of the butt which have a couple of small marks or indentations. RAC is also on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the cylinder pin. This is an exceptional specimen which are hard to locate these days because most of them are either in museums or collections such as this one was. A truly rare find these days.
