No. 5 PACIFIC RIFLE IN DESIRABLE .38-55 CALIBER WITH 30" OCTAGON BARREL, MARLIN FIREARMS COMPANY MARKED, #27XXX, matching numbers on the receiver, barrel, butt plate and forend, fine deep barrel blue, mottled gray receiver with traces of thin case color, double set triggers work fine, tight action, has two tiny threaded holes in the bottom of the lever loop where someone no doubt has some kind of extension added at some point- minor and you have to look to see it, buckhorn rear sight with Rocky Mountain blade front, probably had a tang sight at one time as the two filler screws are not in, generally exc. wood, very small age/stress crack for about 1/2" on right rear of the receiver/wrist metal where it meets the stock- hard to figure this one as there is little or no pressure put on this part of the receiver- it is tiny and of no real importance, wiping rod intact, bore needs a good scrubbing out to be fine+ or better- looks to have some leading in it with possible normal light roughness ahead of the chamber- a good cleaning ought to do wonders for this one.
