Description:
This is a very early 1860 Martial Model ,Colt Army, with a fluted cylinder. Comes with factory letter. Has an 8" barrel with a strongly rifled bore. Barrel Address reads:, "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-". Frame on left side above trigger guard is marked:, "COLT'S/PATENT", the top portion is obscured and hard to read, without a glass. The Cylinder is marked in a Flute:, "PATENTED SEPT. 10th 1860". This is the "4 Screw" model with the Recoil shield and butt end cut for a Buttstock. The Serial number is #3624, Manufactured in 1861. All numbered parts, barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap and back of cylinder are the same. Very little, if any, of the Cartouche remains on left grip surface. Metal is all a smooth freckled grey patina. The trigger guard is a pleasing un-cleaned brass patina. Left side of trigger guard has inspector's mark. Single action only. Action is Strong and indexes properly. The one piece Walnut grips are solid and show light handling marks and small losses at sharp edges. The number in backstrap channel is obscured and I can't read it. Buyer pays $35.00 shipping to lower 48 states. International shipping varies as to location.
