Description:
A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 12 Gauge SxS
28" BARRELS, 6LBS 13OZ., AS NEW

General Specs: AH Fox, Year 1932, 12 Gauge, 6lbs 13oz, Side-by-Side
Serial Number: 130759

Fox made A LOT of Sterlingworth 12ga. guns and you can buy them any day at reasonable prices.  And why not?  The Sterlingworth is the same mechanical gun as the finest Fox ever made and the very best buy in the vintage American double gun market.  Most were "used hard and put away wet" gathering meat for the family, and hence the good prices.  This gun, sn130759 made in 1932, is an exception to most you see in several ways.  First, it was shipped with #3 weight barrels and balances perfectly 1/8” in front of the hinge pin and weighs just over 6 3/4lbs.  You rarely see American double guns under 7lbs.  THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL UPLAND GUN FOR THOSE LONG WALKS AFTER YOUR FAVORITE UPLAND BIRDS.  Choked IC/F it is perfect for flushing birds like pheasants and grouse.    Second, this gun has been professionally refurbished to new, including bone and charcoal case color, rust blue barrels and trigger guard, hand rubbed oil finish on the wood, and perfectly recut checkering.  The chambers were properly lengthened to 3" by a gunsmith including 1 1/2" lengthened forcing cones which will soften the recoil when shooting heavy loads.  All of the oil soaking was removed from the wood and there are no cracks or splits.  Keep in mind that when the case color was done, they stripped the receiver to its smallest parts, cleaned them all, and then lubricated the internals upon reassembly, so the gun is like new inside and out and ready for the field for another 80 years.  If you have ever wanted a featherweight 12ga.gun that has been totally restored to new, this is your gun.  It actually cost more to have the gun restored than we are asking for the whole gun!  And that doesn't include the  the year long wait.  Thanks for looking!
