Colt 1902 Slide Automatic (King Farouk's Pornographic Gun) Cal. .38 automatic rimless, Ser. 373XX.
Gold plated and covered with 20+ separate explicit scenes, however it is hard to be certain as every time I start to count I get distracted and forget the number.
They are very explicit and beautifully executed sexual scenes. All are relief engraved and so incredibly detailed. We thought twice before posting the pictures on this listing.
The workmanship alone, forgetting the subject matter, is absolutely magnificent.
The gun itself retains about 98-99% of the gold plating. The loss is contained to some slight sharp edge wear. It shows no physical use. There is no pitting, rust, or scratches anywhere. All parts match. The added authentic ivory grips** are perfect and show no wear, chips or scratches.
**The ivory grips qualify for the de minimis exception under the new law regarding the interstate sale of Ivory.
The blued interior parts show no use. The feed ramp, bolt face and slide rails show no use. The bore, like rest of the internals, are as it left the factory.
The gun was acquired many years ago when Egypt's King Farouk's estate put it up for in Switzerland. It was then sold to an American collector who, in turn, put it up for sale. At that time, I bought it, then sold it. The buyer passed and the estate put the gun up for sale again, at which time I acquired it for the second time.
I was told by the estate of the first purchaser that the back strap was King Farouk's name engraved in Egyptian Hieroglyphics, however our research indicates that the hieroglyphics may tell a different story.
The first Hieroglyphic is called an Ankh: “The symbol of life, it represents the male triad and the female unit”
The rest of the gun has about 20 of what can be only be described as very detailed pornographic scenes. He was known all over Europe as The Egyptian Playboy and was constantly seen in the company of young girls.

Farouk’s artwork was “nothing terribly offensive,” said Roger Owen, a history professor at Harvard University.
One of the items included an intricate watch. “There was a watch on display, in which some scene of copulation took place, on the hour,” said Owen.
Farouk himself claimed that some of the alleged pornographic materials were planted in his palace, such as the pistol and “album of semi-nude photographs” found under his pillow.
“Upon this strange assortment I was supposed to sleep each night!” he wrote.
Additionally, the film projector in his bedroom – with which the king was “showing objectionable photos to himself,” as Farouk quoted the allegations – was actually for the viewing of family videos.
