Description:
Serial #838, .22 RF, 3” octagon barrel with a good, darkly freckled bore. This is an early, three digit numbered revolver with iron sideplate that has traces of the original blue remaining on the barrel, mostly within the protected areas of the barrel rib. The balance of the barrel has turned to a mellow plum-brown patina with some minor freckling in spots. The frame retains much of the original silver plate finish which has thin freckling throughout and an overall dark blue-black tarnish. The walnut grips are numbered to the gun on the interior and have a few small handling marks in the original varnish. The revolver has tight lock-up, and the action functions flawlessly. Likewise, the original New York style scroll engraving is excellent with crisp definition and lovely flowing lines. This is a splendid example of a rare, 1st – 1st .22 Manhattan in very good plus-fine condition. Antique
