Description:
This would be the #3 long range Military Rifle. Calibers are a bit confusing on these. Sometimes called a 44-2-6/10" and sometimes referred to as a 44-75. There were many different versions of the Hepburn rifle with the long range "Military Rifle" being the most rare with only a couple of years production run. Other versions of the Remington Hepburn were made for 20+ years and were well noted for being the "gun to have" at shooting matches of the day. This particular gun is a fine example with most blue remaining. It is aging with some freckling but overall nice metal. The frame has aged to the normal grey color. Full length wood is exceptional. Some usage marks but no major damage on either the forearm or the buttstock. Nice fitting at tangs and frame. A little shrinkage at the toe. Looks like the toe was chipped with the orig piece put back in. Bore VG+. If you are a collector of single shot rifles, this would certainly be a good one to have.
