Description:
SOLD...Antique Colt 1849 pocket model. Here is a very nice Colt 1849 Pocket model with 5" barrel and original antique holster.. Lets start out by saying this is NOT your average loose and rattly 49 pocket that you usually find. The mechanics are crisp and tight as a new gun. It locks up tight like new with no cylinder movement at all. NO cylinder wobble on the arbor pin and very little front to rear cylinder movement. Rock solid barrel to frame fit. It has the standard but a little harder to find 5" barrel. The bore is mirror bright with a couple small patches of pitting. Strong and deep rifling and a way above average bore for a Colt percussion revolver. ALL matching numbers and S/N is 206114 including the wedge and arbor pin. Made in 1862 right in the middle of the Civil War. The cylinder has a strong 85% or more scene. The barrel has good traces of blue on the left side around the wedge and a little on the bottom flat. The rammer has traces of case colors by the S/N also. Some nice silver remaining on the back strap and trigger guard also. The two rear trigger guard screws still show all the Colt fire blue. All the markings are clear. The balance of the metal is a smooth medium gray to brown patina. Never cleaned on or messed with. The grips are excellent with 80% original varnish. Some old initials very lightly scratched on the butt. They are not deep at all. This is very common on a lot of these percussions you see. The cylinder nipples are all sharp and thick and not mashed and worn thin like most all you see. I would have no problem shooting this gun with proper black powder loads of course. The holster is in excellent condition and shows very little use. It is made for this model and barrel length. The leather is in excellent condition as you can see with some minor crazing on the flap and where the cylinder has form fit to the holster.. The latch tab is torn. ALL the original stitching is tight and excellent. Stil retains the sewn in muzzle plug and original belt loop on the rear. This holster pre dates the Civil War I think as there are no rivets used anywhere.  A very early holster in absolutetly excellent condition. Very hard to find these early holsters in this fine a condition. Here is a very nice set for the Colt percussion collector or shooter. It is in well above average condition than you usually find with a mirror bright bore and original holster. Call 765-728-8049 for more photos or any questions. Don't let this one get away !!!! $25 isured shipping. Thank you for looking and please see my other items for sale while you are here. Stop back and check often as I have many more quality antique firearms I will be listing soon.
