Description:
Browning Superposed 3 Gauge Set O/U
DIANA GRADE 3 GAUGE SET, .410, 28GA, 20GA, 28", FACTORY DOCUMENTED

General Specs: Belgium, Browning, Year 1967, .410, 28, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 10oz, 6lbs 10oz, 6lbs 4oz, Over Under
Serial Number: 44796v7

The Browning Superposed has been the most notable over/under commercially produced.  From its arduous beginning in the late 1920's, to its introduction in the U.S. in 1931, the Superposed has been popular amongst shooters and collectors alike.  Adorned with various levels of engraving and decoration, this creation of genius gun inventor John Browning was finally discontinued from full production in 1977 with the beginning of the "Presentation Series".  This fine Diana Grade factory 3 gauge set is adorned with gorgeous English walnut stocks, 28” barrels in .410, 28, and 20 gauge, all housed in the factory case.  The factory historian confirms the gun left the factory in this configuration.  This gun, sn44796 V7 shipped in 1967, has a few important distinctions from its brethren during that period.  Most Browning collector/shooters are aware that Browning had salt wood issues from 1966 to 1970 or so.  Also, in 1966 they eliminated the long tang, round knob stocks that Browning guys consider the most desirable and went to a short tang trigger guard and a bulkier pistol grip.  Of great importance, this gun is certified as a “no salt” gun by Art’s Gun in Missouri, the most respected Browning experts in the country.  Art’s tested this gun and determined the existing wood is factory replacement wood and has no salt issues.  The metal is without any salt effects and is in as new condition.  When the previous owner had the stock replaced at Browning they had the long tang trigger guard and round knob stock made of highly figured English walnut that retains 100% perfect factory finish and checkering.  This is a gorgeous set!  All 3 sets of barrels are choked skeet, the mechanics are like new with strong ejectors and crisp trigger pulls.  The gun shows as new in all ways.  This Diana Grade is deeply chiseled and game scene engraved by factory engraver Louis Acampo.  Acampo was the engraving teacher to the apprentices for nearly 20 years and his work is greatly respected.  The gun is made to balance just forward of the hinge pin in all 3 gauges and would make a great upland and clays small gauge set.  Factory documented, high grade, small gauge Brownings are very hard to come by and will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use.  THIS IS NOT AN AFTERMARKET ENGRAVED GUN…this is the real thing straight from the Browning factory.  Thanks for looking, and don’t miss out on this gorgeous salt free long tang round knob Diana Grade set!
