This saddle is a World War One era saddle. There are no repairs or alterations done to this saddle. This saddle is completely sound and serviceable. There is no loose stiching or separation of the leather. The saddle comes with the following items. Complete Saddle bags with liners and ration bags by Long 1917, Shabrock that is not unit marked, Lined hooded stirrups, Mounted canteen, Helmet with intact liners for service in France, Model 1913 Saber and sword knot by L. F. and C. 1918, Carbine boot for 1903 Springfield rifle, Sweat fenders, Picket rope, Circingle, and Complete bridle with reins. The saddle has the correct horse hair cinch, stirrup straps, latigoes. and padded safe rings. The saddle size is number 11. The leather is not dried out, but does show age. The saddle tanning color is very good and not blackened by sweat and staining. This is a pretty complete as issued saddle for the trooper. To find a saddle as complete as this, is a real find for the military collector. This is the kind of saddle that an advanced collector dreams of finding!
