This is a correct Artillery saddle having the "D" rings installed on the pommel and cantle bases. This saddle shows very little use if any. Many of these saddles were used for mounted service and not for the artillery teams. This is one of these saddles. The tan coloring is still light and clean. There is no separation of the leathers or loose stiching. This saddle comes with the following items. Saddle bags with liners and ration bags by Spaulding 1917, Saddle blanket, Circingle, Two piece lined hooded stirrups, Mounted Canteen, Helmet with intact liners for service in France. Spurs with leathers, Carbine boot for Springfield Model 1903 Rifle, Sweat fenders, Unused Model 1913 Saber by L.F. And C. 1918, Sword Knot, Picket Pin with leather hanger, Picket rope. And complete bridle with reins. The horse hair cinch is intact with the padded safe rings and latigoes. The stirrup straps are intact with no damage or improper mounting. The quarter straps are intact with no damage. This saddle is a 12 inch seat. This is a really stunning saddle for the military collector! This saddle was displayed in a private collection for many years. This saddle will be a great center piece for the advanced collector.
