Description:
Antique Winchester Model 1886 Special Order Lever Action Rifle

Here is a Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle. This rifle was manufactured in 1888, making it a true antique.
The 1886 was a collaboration between John Moses Browning and his brother, Matthew Sandifer Browning, to build a big game rifle. This was Browning’s first repeating rifle design adopted by Winchester, and the design even gained the endorsement of Theodore Roosevelt, formerly a staunch proselyte of the 1876.

This piece is a Special Order of the Model 1886 and features a shotgun style butt-stock and a half-length magazine tube. It is chambered in the famous .45-70 Govt. The serial number is inscribed on the bottom tang, just behind the lever. The patent address is also on the bottom tang, just under the lever.

This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Many other examples online are listed at over $15,000.

Barrel is 26 inches in length.

Caliber: .45-70 Govt

Bore is rifled and in great condition. The firearm is in good working order.

Overall condition as seen in photos.
