Scarce Matching Numbered Shoulder Stock and Case!
Here is a Frank Wesson 1870 Pocket Rifle with matching numbered shoulder stock and case. Coined “The Sportsman’s Jewel”, this little .22 was a handy little gun for the outdoorsman. It is a single shot, and unlike similar designs, this barrel swivels on a horizontal axis for loading and unloading. The wire stock is numbered to the gun and attaches to the bottom of the grip via a machined groove, then tightens with a screw. The wood case is original and also numbered to the gun.
This piece is quite the jewel indeed! It has been kept safe from harm all these years by the original wooden case. You certainly don’t see these every day!
This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. No other cased examples available online, and very few besides.
Barrel is octagonal and 18 inches in length.
Caliber: .22 rimfire
Bore is rifled and in good condition and the firearm is in good working order.
