Description:
Antique Scottish Robert Ancell Double Barrel Percussion Pistol

Scottish Gunsmith of Perth, Scotland

Personal gunsmith of Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria

Here we present an antique double barrel percussion pistol, made my Robert Ancell of Perth, Scotland. Records show Ancell as a gunsmith as early as 1833, and some examples of his work show that he was the personal gunsmith of Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria and Prince Consort of the United Kingdom from 1840 to 1861 when he died.

This piece is hand-made, in fabulous condition and very handsome as well. The lock, tang, trigger-guard and hammers are fully engraved. The barrels are twisted Damascus steel. The ramrod is on a military style of swivel that pivots for use in either of the double barrels. The barrel rib is inscribed “Ancell, Perth.” and features a single front bead sight. The bores are massive at .63 caliber and smooth. One could most certainly have loaded this pistol like a shotgun.

This is a very well-made firearm, indeed, and heavy. Certainly the type of sidearm that one would have expected nobility or a very wealthy man to have kept at his side in the 1830s.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. No other examples of this pistol were found world-wide.

Barrels are round and 6.5 inches in length.

Caliber: .63 percussion

Bores are smooth and in fantastic condition. The firearm is in great working order and the nipples are pristine.

Overall condition as seen in photos.

Make this noble pistol the Royal Gem of your collection.
