Winchester Model 1897 Pump Action Shotgun .12 ga. correct 20 inch CLY. bore. The serial number is D9306XX placing date of manufacture in 1941-42. Some of my research material places this gun in the serial number range of guns shipped to the 5TH Marines, Camp Pendleton, California? This gun may have ended up with the Army at the Presidio, San Francisco, California. Wish this one could talk! Overall condition is very good with a perfect bore. The original factory rust blue is 50%, 50% blue/plum patina. All correct and untouched with "W" marked Handguard. The 1917 Sling is correct and probably original to this gun. This is the earliest of the WWII issued guns with correct early flaming bomb on the barrel and Cross Cannon Cartouche on the left side of the stock. The inspectors Cartouche would be "WB", however obscured by a rub mark. I think I can still make out the B? Very early gun, all correct and untouched.
