From my client’s father’s estate, we are offering his very nice 1911AI manufactured by Remington rand in 1944. This pistol retains 96% of its original factory finish. With some slight holster wear or storage wear. Let’s describe the markings on this rifle beginning with the right hand side. On the frame from the grip safety forward we have the crossed cannons ordnance mark, then moving forward United States Property M 1911A1 U.S. Army, below which is the serial # NO. 1943302. The trigger guard has a Z at the junction of the top and an O towards the bottom junction of the grip. The right grip panel is marked on the inside with the numeral 12. The left side of the frame is marked, FJA and with a P just behind the magazine release. There is a 5 stamped at the top of the trigger guard. Inside the frame is an X. The frame also has a G stamped into the top of the frame. The left grip is marked internally with a 9. Slide is marked on top with a P, Left side Remington Rand Inc. and Syracuse N.Y. U.S.A. At the rear G is stamped inside. There is a bit of holster wear on the left side of the slide. This 45 ACP pistol has a very good High Standard manufactured barrel. The rifling is near excellent with very faint frost that may actually clean out with a minimal bit of effort. The magazine is marked R on the floor plate. Again this is a very fine example of the Remington Rand Model 1911A1 made under license from Colt during the war years.
