Sold #429111S74 .A Browning superposed Presentation Superlite 12 Ga with D5 engraving.
Made in 1974 with Skeet barrels 27 5/8” long , Broadway rib . .731” bores as originally marked, with .008” / .008” chokes. Bores and 2 ¾”chambers are like new. Blaking is in 98% original condition, soldering is flawless.
This is a full option gun with three piece forend , flat knob long tang, oil finished wood. The chiseled action has 100% Louis XVI style engraving (D5, as stamped on the action table). Superb work signed by A. Cuisset and F. Hupkens. Coin finish and engraving are in 100% condition
The mechanical single trigger works as it should and the action is tight . Bolting still has a good bite but the top lever is past center to the left . The gun weighs 7 pounds 6 oz.
The full option stock had the checkered wood butt , but this gun received a 1” leather cover pad, bringing the LOP to 15 1/8” . Drop is 1 ½ and 2” neutral cast. Well contrasted French walnut with tear drops and 30 lines /inches checkering. The wood is in 90% condition with handling marks, the checkering is in 98%.
We can count the number of superposed in this very configuration on the fingers of one hand…..
